Job Title: Senior Mainframe System Administrator

*Job Summary / Description*

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe System Administrator to oversee the operations, maintenance, and performance of enterprise-level mainframe systems.

The ideal candidate will ensure system stability, performance optimization, and high availability while managing upgrades, troubleshooting incidents, and supporting business continuity.

*Key Responsibilities*

Administer and maintain IBM z/OS and AS400 (IBM iSeries) environments.

Monitor system capacity, performance, and uptime; implement proactive tuning and maintenance.

Manage backups, disaster-recovery procedures, and security controls.

Coordinate with application and network teams for system integration and troubleshooting.

Schedule, monitor, and manage batch jobs and middleware tools.

Apply patches, firmware, and software updates regularly.

Maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, changes, and incidents.

Support after-hours maintenance and participate in on-call rotations.

Lead and mentor junior system administrators; support continuous learning and process improvement.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience in mainframe system administration.

Strong knowledge of:

IBM z/OS operating system and subsystems

AS400 / IBM iSeries administration

CICS, VSAM, and related mainframe tools

ITIL processes and change management

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Experience with high-availability, security, and compliance environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

IBM Certified System Administrator – z/OS or AS400

Familiarity with job scheduling tools (Control-M, CA-7)

Experience with mainframe modernization or virtualization initiatives

Background in DevOps or automation in legacy systems

Other Requirements:

Must have valid authorization to work in the Philippines.

Stable career history (no frequent short-term job hopping).

Not a current or former employee of the end client.
