Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Financial Master Data Management

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Financial Master Data Management to drive data governance, master data quality, and system integrity across the organization. The role will serve as a functional authority for financial master data domains, including Chart of Accounts, Business Units, Departments, Supplier/Vendor Master, and financial hierarchies.

The candidate will work closely with Corporate Finance, Procurement, Global IT, and internal control teams to improve data quality, strengthen governance, eliminate operational issues, and support system optimization and automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Master Data Management

Own and govern financial master data across core enterprise data domains.
Manage End-to-End Vendor and Customer Master Data and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Govern the Chart of Accounts (COA), accounting structures, and financial hierarchies.
Define and maintain Business Units, Legal Entities, Cost Centers, Departments, and related organizational hierarchies.
Ensure master data is accurately mapped to support financial and management reporting.

Oracle ERP & System Management

Act as the functional system owner for relevant master data components within Oracle ERP.
Support system configurations, mass data updates, and system data mapping.
Utilize advanced Oracle utility templates such as FBDI, WebADI, and ADFDI where applicable.
Identify opportunities for Oracle ERP enhancements, automation, and system optimization.
Support data migration, validation, and system integrity initiatives.

Data Governance & Controls

Formulate, review, and enforce Master Data Governance policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain data quality standards and controls.
Implement and monitor Segregation of Duties (SoD) and SOX internal controls.
Ensure master data processes comply with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Support internal controls, quality audits, and compliance reviews.

Supplier & Vendor Master Governance

Lead operational governance of the global Supplier and Vendor Master database.
Establish standard workflows for complex multi-entity vendors and intercompany accounts.
Govern payment terms and supplier-related master data routing.
Ensure supplier master data remains accurate, complete, and compliant.

Stakeholder & Team Management

Act as the key SME and escalation point for Financial Master Data Management.
Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, Global IT, and Internal Controls teams.
Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve complex master data issues.
Support team performance, SLA adherence, and continuous process improvement.
Provide SME guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing to team members.

Required Skills & Qualifications

4–8 years of relevant experience in Financial Master Data Management / MDM.
Strong experience in financial master data governance and system integrity.
Hands-on experience with Oracle ERP.
Strong knowledge of Chart of Accounts (COA) and financial hierarchies.
Experience managing Supplier/Vendor and Customer Master Data.
Knowledge of SoD and SOX controls.
Experience with internal controls, audits, compliance, and quality management.
Strong Stakeholder Management and communication skills.
Experience in Team Management and SLA Management.
Advanced MS Excel skills.
Knowledge of financial data architecture and governance.
Experience with Oracle ERP enhancement and system optimization is preferred.
Knowledge of FBDI, WebADI, or ADFDI is an added advantage.

Education

Minimum 15 years of regular, full-time education (10+2+3).
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
CPA, CFA, or MBA is an added advantage.
