Job Summary
We are looking for a Legal Order Garnishment Specialist to support US payroll operations involving wage garnishments and other legal payroll orders. The role will be responsible for accurately reviewing, setting up, processing, maintaining, and terminating garnishment orders while ensuring payroll deductions are processed correctly and within required timelines.
The ideal candidate should have strong payroll knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential employee and legal information.
Key Responsibilities
Review and process legal orders related to US payroll garnishments.
Interpret garnishment orders and determine appropriate payroll deduction requirements.
Set up and maintain garnishment deductions accurately in payroll systems.
Process various types of legal orders, including wage garnishments, levies, child support, and other applicable payroll orders.
Validate legal orders and employee information before processing deductions.
Calculate and apply deductions in accordance with applicable orders and payroll requirements.
Monitor garnishment accounts and ensure deductions are processed accurately and timely.
Process updates, modifications, releases, and terminations of garnishment orders.
Respond to inquiries from employees, agencies, courts, and other authorized parties regarding garnishment processing.
Research and resolve discrepancies or exceptions related to payroll deductions.
Maintain accurate documentation and records for all garnishment activities.
Ensure payroll garnishment activities follow established procedures, compliance requirements, and service-level timelines.
Protect confidential employee, payroll, and legal information.
Coordinate with payroll, HR, and other internal teams to resolve complex cases and escalations.
Prepare reports and perform reconciliation or quality checks as required.
Required Qualifications
Experience in US Payroll, Payroll Operations, Garnishments, or Legal Order Processing.
Strong understanding of US payroll garnishment processes.
Experience reviewing and interpreting legal orders or payroll deduction notices.
Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Ability to work with confidential employee and legal information.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to research and resolve payroll discrepancies and exceptions.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and payroll systems.
Ability to meet strict deadlines and service-level requirements.
Preferred Experience
US Payroll processing.
Wage garnishments and levies.
Child support orders.
Tax levies.
Bankruptcy orders.
Legal order setup, maintenance, modification, and termination.
Payroll reconciliation and audit activities.
Experience with enterprise payroll systems.
