Job Title : Associate – Interpretation Support (Cantonese & English)

About the Role

Tech Mahindra is hiring Interpretation Support Associates fluent in Cantonese and English for a healthcare-based interpretation process.

The role involves providing accurate, real-time, over-the-phone consecutive interpretation between US-based healthcare professionals and patients. The interpreter must ensure clear communication while maintaining accuracy, neutrality, confidentiality, and professionalism throughout every call.

Key Responsibilities

Provide real-time, meaning-for-meaning consecutive interpretation over the phone between English-speaking healthcare professionals and Cantonese-speaking patients.
Interpret conversations primarily within the healthcare domain, including communication between doctors, medical staff, and patients.
Interpret accurately without adding, omitting, summarizing, or changing the speaker's intended meaning.
Use a first-person interpretation style during calls.
Handle healthcare, medical, insurance, emergency, financial, and other support-related conversations as required.
Maintain appropriate tone, pace, pronunciation, and clarity throughout live calls.
Follow interpreter protocols, company policies, confidentiality requirements, and professional ethics.
Remain neutral and unbiased and avoid providing personal opinions, suggestions, or advice.
Handle urgent, sensitive, stressful, or emergency healthcare conversations calmly and professionally.
Develop and maintain terminology knowledge related to healthcare, medical services, insurance, and other OPI use cases.
Participate in mandatory training, quality reviews, coaching sessions, and feedback discussions.
Improve performance based on QA evaluations and supervisor feedback.
Maintain reliable attendance and schedule adherence.
Work independently in a remote environment while maintaining communication with supervisors and team members.
Follow all privacy, confidentiality, and data protection requirements.

Strong fluency in Cantonese.
Advanced English fluency, preferably B2+/C1 level.
Strong speaking, reading, listening, and comprehension skills.
Ability to understand cultural and linguistic nuances.

Eligibility Criteria

High School Graduate, SPM, Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree.
0–5 years of experience; freshers may apply.
Professional experience in interpretation, translation, healthcare, customer service, contact center, BPO, media, or journalism will be preferred.
Comparable professional experience may also be considered.
Fluency in Cantonese and English is mandatory.
Must be comfortable working a permanent night shift.
Must be able to work from home with a stable internet connection.
Must have a quiet and private work environment suitable for handling confidential healthcare calls.

Compensation & Benefits

Basic Salary: RM 4,000–RM 4,500/month
Negotiable Salary: Up to RM 5,000 based on profile and experience
Wi-Fi Allowance: RM 150/month
Night Shift Allowance: RM 25/night
Estimated Night Shift Allowance: Approximately RM 550/month based on 22 working days
Performance Incentive: Based on performance
Total All-Inclusive Salary: RM 5,000+

Work Environment

This is a Work From Home position. Candidates must be comfortable working independently during permanent night shifts and handling live interpretation calls.

Due to the sensitive nature of healthcare conversations, candidates must have a quiet, private, and suitable work environment, along with a stable internet connection.
