About the Role

Shape the future of private bank lending. As an Assistant Vice President in Mortgage Operations, you’ll own the end-to-end origination journey for complex, high-value mortgages that directly impact our most discerning clients. You won’t just process files—you’ll orchestrate a seamless operating rhythm, coach a dedicated team, and champion the controls and process improvements that keep us at the top of our game. If you thrive on navigating nonstandard income structures, removing blockers, and delivering an exceptional client experience with precision and poise, this leadership role will put your expertise center stage.

What You’ll Do

Lead the Full Origination Lifecycle: Guide every step from file intake through closing and funding, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness across a portfolio of sophisticated loans.

Drive Daily Pipeline Execution: Prioritize workloads, resolve escalations, and make real-time decisions to keep transactions on track.

Tackle Complexity Head-On: Review intricate files, applying deep subject-matter expertise to nonstandard income, asset, and collateral scenarios—no two deals are the same.

Collaborate Across the Ecosystem: Partner with underwriting, processing, closing, and mortgage solutions teams to remove roadblocks and perfect handoffs.

Champion Controls & Quality: Uphold all regulatory requirements, internal policies, and audit-ready documentation standards; maintain rigorous quality control.

Build & Develop Your Team: Lead, coach, and mentor an operations group of 5–10 direct reports, fostering a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and high performance.

Identify & Mitigate Risks: Spot operational risks early, implement corrective actions, and drive sustainable process improvements.

Provide Transparency & Backup: Produce clear status reports and metrics that empower decision-making; step in as a deputy for senior leadership when needed.

What You’ll Bring

Required

Deep Mortgage Roots: 10 years of mortgage operations experience, with a strong focus on the U.S. mortgage landscape—you know the nuances of complex originations inside out.

People Leadership: 5+ years managing operational teams, with a proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop individuals across diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Process Efficiency Mindset: A track record of executing projects that streamline workflows, eliminate waste, and elevate service quality without sacrificing controls.

Complex File Confidence: Demonstrated skill handling nonstandard income, asset, and collateral cases throughout the origination lifecycle.

Compliance & Controls Acumen: Working knowledge of mortgage regulations, compliance mandates, and risk frameworks—you design processes with integrity built in.

Pipeline Mastery: Ability to juggle competing priorities, manage a dynamic pipeline, and resolve escalations swiftly.

Communication Excellence: Strong written and verbal skills; you can distill complex concepts into clear, actionable insights for any audience.

Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with mortgage origination systems and operational reporting tools.

Preferred

Experience supporting private bank or wealth management client segments.

Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) for operational reporting.

Background partnering with technology teams to enhance mortgage workflow tools and automation.

Project management experience driving operational transformation initiatives.
