Job Title: Subject Matter Expert – Freight Forwarding / Logistics
Work Location: May be assigned to any NCR site
Work Setup & Schedule: On-site | Shifting schedule
Salary Range: PHP 80,000 – 110,000
Job Description
The Freight Forwarding Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of our client`s freight forwarding operations.
This includes managing the end-to-end Freight forwarding value chain starting from the shipment process, vendor relationships, compliance, cost efficiency, and ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of freight forwarding processes, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
•Oversee and manage all freight forwarding activities, including import, export, and domestic shipments.
•Ensure efficient and cost-effective transportation of goods, adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
•Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for freight forwarding processes.
•Monitor shipment status and proactively address any potential delays or issues.
•Manage documentation processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
Vendor Management:
•Identify, evaluate, and select freight forwarding vendors based on cost, reliability, and service quality.
•Negotiate rates and service agreements with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics providers.
•Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring effective communication and performance monitoring.
•Regularly review vendor performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
·Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
•Ensure all freight forwarding activities comply with local and international regulations, including customs, import/export laws, and safety standards.
•Stay updated on changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to operational processes.
•Manage customs clearance processes and resolve any related issues.
· Cost Control and Efficiency:
•Implement strategies to optimize freight costs without compromising service quality.
•Analyze freight spend and identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
•Track and report on key operational metrics, including on-time delivery, cost per shipment, and vendor performance.
· Team Leadership and Development:
•Lead, mentor, and develop a team of freight forwarding specialists or coordinators.
•Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Problem Solving and Issue Resolution:
•Proactively identify and resolve any issues or challenges related to freight forwarding operations.
• Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid future occurrences.
•Escalate complex issues to relevant stakeholders promptly.
· Reporting and Documentation:
•Prepare regular reports on freight forwarding activities, performance metrics, and cost analysis.
•Maintain accurate and organized records of all shipments and related documentation.
· Collaboration:
•Work closely with internal teams such as Procurement, Finance, and client`s internal departments to ensure seamless operations.
•Communicate effectively with external stakeholders, including vendors, clients (if applicable), and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
· Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in freight forwarding operations, with a strong understanding of import/export processes, customs regulations, and carrier management.
· Proven experience in vendor negotiation and management.
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
· Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
· Proficiency in freight forwarding systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
· Knowledge of relevant local and international trade regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Freight forwarding diplomas (FIATA)/ equivalent or industry certifications will be preferred
· Experience working in a IT-BPM/ Freight environment will be preferred
