Job Description

We are hiring an experienced UK Payroll Team Lead / SME to manage end-to-end UK payroll operations, ensure payroll accuracy and compliance, handle complex payroll queries, and provide technical guidance to team members.

Key Responsibilities

  Manage end-to-end UK payroll processing.
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Strong knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, RTI, HMRC, FPS and EPS.
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Handle statutory payments, tax codes and workplace pensions.
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Perform payroll reconciliations, audits, variance analysis and corrections.
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Manage complex payroll cases, exceptions and escalations.
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Coordinate team activities, quality checks and workload allocation.
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Coach and guide payroll associates.
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Support year-end activities (P60, P11D and P11D(b)).
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Drive process improvements and payroll automation.
  
  
  
  

Required Skills

• 
  
  
  
  5–7 years of hands-on UK Payroll experience.
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance.
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Experience with Workday Payroll or similar payroll systems.
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Knowledge of pension auto-enrolment.
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Strong Excel and reconciliation skills.
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Team handling / SME experience.
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Experience in BPO, shared services or managed services.
  
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 
  
  
  
  B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance).
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  CIPP certification or equivalent UK Payroll qualification.
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  
  
  Exposure to payroll transformation, automation and UAT.
