About the Role
Steer the procurement of the materials that build our products. As a Direct Sourcing Leader, you’ll own the end‑to‑end strategy for production materials, components, and critical supplier partnerships. This is not just buying; it’s about securing supply continuity, driving cost competitiveness, and embedding quality and risk management into every decision. You’ll partner with planning, engineering, quality, and finance teams to ensure the business always has what it needs, at the right price and right time. What You’ll Do

Own Category Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies for direct materials, aligning every move with business demand, cost targets, and quality standards.

Lead Supplier Partnerships: Identify, qualify, and onboard suppliers. Drive commercial negotiations covering pricing, payment terms, lead times, and service commitments. Build lasting relationships that turn suppliers into allies.

Run Complex RFx Processes: Lead RFI/RFQ/RFP events, conduct bid evaluations, and present well‑reasoned recommendations that balance total cost, risk, and value.

Manage Risk Proactively: Monitor market trends, commodity shifts, supply constraints, and geopolitical risks. Develop mitigation plans that keep production lines running smoothly.

Collaborate Cross‑Functionally: Work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with planning, operations, quality, finance, and engineering to align sourcing with business priorities. Your influence will span multiple departments.

Govern Performance: Establish supplier scorecards, conduct quarterly business reviews, and drive corrective actions that lift performance year over year.

Deliver Savings & Value: Identify and capture cost reduction opportunities, value engineering ideas, and working capital improvements. You’ll be measured on real, trackable savings.

Ensure Compliance & Controls: Uphold procurement policies, approval thresholds, and audit standards at every step, keeping documentation airtight.

Mentor & Standardise: Coach team members, share best practices, and help standardise templates and reporting to elevate the entire sourcing function.

What You’ll Bring

Experience & Expertise: 10+ years in direct procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management within a manufacturing or operations‑linked environment. You’ve managed production materials and complex supplier negotiations.

Educational Foundation: A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field. An MBA or professional procurement certification (CIPS, CPSM) is a strong advantage.

Core Skills:

Strategic sourcing and category management with a track record of delivering savings.

Supplier relationship management: you know how to develop partners, not just vendors.

Commercial negotiation mastery, including contract structuring and TCO analysis.

Risk assessment and market intelligence, with the ability to act before disruptions hit.

Stakeholder management across diverse, cross‑functional teams.

Proficiency in ERP procurement systems and data analytics.

Leadership & Communication: You’ve mentored teams, influenced without authority, and presented confidently to senior leaders. Your decisions are data‑driven and your communication crisp.

Mindset: Strategic yet hands‑on. You see the big picture but aren’t afraid to dig into details. You thrive in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented culture.

Key Success Measures
You’ll be evaluated on savings delivery, supplier performance, supply continuity, contract compliance, sourcing cycle time, risk mitigation effectiveness, and stakeholder satisfaction.
