Contract Duration: 6 months + 12 months renewable contract
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for providing accurate and professional interpretation support during live calls. Key responsibilities include:
Provide real-time, meaning-for-meaning consecutive interpretation over the phone between English speakers and Cantonese speakers.
Interpret conversations primarily in the healthcare domain, including communication between doctors, medical staff, and patients.
Ensure accurate interpretation without adding, omitting, summarizing, or changing the meaning of the speaker’s message.
Maintain a first-person interpretation style to ensure clear and natural communication between both parties.
Handle calls related to medical discussions, patient concerns, insurance, emergency situations, finance, and other support scenarios as required.
Maintain professionalism, correct tone, pace, and clarity throughout live interpretation calls.
Follow all interpreter protocols, company policies, confidentiality guidelines, and industry ethics.
Remain neutral during all calls and avoid giving personal opinions, suggestions, or advice.
Manage urgent, stressful, emotionally sensitive, or emergency healthcare calls calmly and professionally.
Build and maintain strong terminology knowledge related to healthcare, medical services, insurance, and other OPI use cases.
Attend mandatory training, quality reviews, coaching sessions, and feedback discussions.
Improve performance based on QA evaluations, supervisor feedback, and coaching inputs.
Ensure reliable attendance, schedule adherence, and timely completion of assigned tasks.
Work independently in a remote work environment while maintaining regular communication with supervisors and team members.
Ensure strict compliance with privacy, confidentiality, and data protection requirements.
Required Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate should have strong bilingual communication skills and the ability to interpret live conversations accurately.
Language Skills
Strong fluency in Cantonese
Advanced English fluency, preferably B2+/C1 level
Strong speaking, reading, listening, and comprehension skills
Ability to understand cultural nuances and linguistic differences
Clear pronunciation and professional communication style
Interpretation Skills
Excellent listening and memory retention skills
Ability to interpret accurately and completely
Strong attention to detail
Ability to maintain meaning-for-meaning interpretation
Ability to handle different accents, tones, and speaking speeds
Ability to adapt quickly to different call types and scenarios

Strong sense of confidentiality and ethics
Ability to remain neutral and unbiased
Good decision-making ability within defined protocols
Ability to work independently from home

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
High School Graduate, SPM, Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree
Freshers and experienced candidates can apply
Candidates with professional experience in interpretation, translation, healthcare, customer service, contact center, BPO, media, or journalism will be preferred
Comparable professional experience may also be considered
Must be fluent in Mandarin/Cantonese and English
Must be comfortable working in permanent night shift
Must be able to work from home with a stable internet connection
Preferred Candidate Profile
This role is suitable for candidates who have experience or interest in:
Cantonese interpretation
English-to-Cantonese translation
Healthcare support
Medical interpretation
BPO or contact center operations

International voice support
Remote work roles
Freshers with excellent language skills and the right attitude can also be considered.
Work Environment
This is a work-from-home role. Candidates must be comfortable working independently in a remote setup and supporting live interpretation calls during night shift hours. The role requires strong focus, privacy, and a quiet work environment due to the sensitive nature of healthcare conversations.
