Role Summary

We are looking for a Trade Compliance Lawyer with 3–5+ years of experience specifically focused on trade compliance law. The role will support the company's global trade compliance program across the Americas, EMEA and APAC.

The position will provide practical legal guidance on international trade and export control requirements, support transactional trade compliance matters, develop compliance training and assist with policies, internal controls, risk assessments and monitoring activities.

Key Responsibilities

Support implementation and maintenance of global trade compliance program initiatives.
Develop and deliver trade compliance training using approved frameworks.
Develop, review and implement trade policies and internal controls.
Prepare trade compliance communications and guidance for internal stakeholders.
Support risk assessments and recommend improvements to compliance programs.
Develop tools and monitoring mechanisms to identify and mitigate trade-related risks.
Advise business and Legal stakeholders on trade/export laws, compliance policies and related requirements.
Review client contracts and services for trade compliance considerations.
Collaborate with Legal and business teams to identify and mitigate trade-related risks.
Conduct localized training on trade and export control matters.
Support internal audits and investigations related to trade/export law.
Work with senior management, outside counsel and relevant subject matter experts.
Prepare practical legal recommendations from complex regulatory analysis.
Support compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions.

Qualifications

Juris Doctorate or comparable legal Master's degree.
Must be an admitted lawyer / have valid bar admission.
3–5+ years of experience specifically in trade compliance law.
Strong knowledge of international trade controls and export regulations.
Experience with U.S. export controls and preferably multiple jurisdictions.
Experience with trade compliance programs, policies and internal controls.
Experience developing and conducting compliance training.
Experience supporting government inquiries, risk assessments, audits and investigations.
Contract drafting and review experience.
Strong legal writing, negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to translate complex legal matters into practical recommendations.
Strong stakeholder management and judgment.
Fluent in English.
Chinese language skills are an added advantage.

Important Candidate Requirement

Candidates must have specific trade compliance legal experience. General corporate/commercial legal experience without trade compliance practice should not be considered.
