Role Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Engineering within the C&I Major Projects team, the Asset Support Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and operational stability of AGL’s hybrid energy systems portfolio, including Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and High-Voltage (HV) distribution assets. The role works closely with the Senior Asset Engineer to monitor system performance in real time, identify underperformance, and conduct initial fault diagnosis using SCADA platforms, analytics tools, and monitoring systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Monitoring & Fault Management
Monitor system performance outside standard working hours (Weekdays: 4:00 PM – 1:00 AM AEST; Weekends: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM AEST).
Detect, validate, prioritize, and classify faults or system events using SCADA and monitoring tools.
Implement first-line fault containment actions during degraded system performance.
Perform remote resets and configuration checks where required.
Initiate site attendance for critical fault investigation and rectification.
Assess production loss and operational impact, escalating issues when necessary.

2. Maintenance & Coordination
Create and manage work orders using Procore and NetSuite.
Coordinate with site teams and maintenance technicians.
Maintain incident timelines, operational logs, and documentation.

3. Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience (utilities or renewable energy preferred).
Experience in control center operations, system triage, or fault monitoring of hybrid energy systems.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

4. Preferred Skills
Experience in utility-scale solar PV or renewable asset monitoring.
Ability to interpret SCADA trends, event logs, and one-line diagrams.
Knowledge of SEL protection infrastructure and CMMS platforms (Procore, NetSuite).
