GCP Cloud Architect (SAP AMS) – Role Summary
The GCP Cloud Architect is responsible for governing and optimizing SAP landscapes hosted on Google Cloud Platform within an Application Managed Services (AMS) environment. The role focuses on steady-state operations, ensuring system performance, reliability, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement of SAP systems.
Key responsibilities include overseeing SAP environments such as S/4HANA, ECC, BW/4HANA, and BTP integrations, ensuring system stability, availability, and consistent performance. The architect leads AMS governance by ensuring SLA, SLO, and KPI compliance, guiding L3/L4 support, managing incidents, and driving root cause analysis to eliminate recurring issues.
The role also involves managing GCP infrastructure, including Compute Engine, networking (VPC), storage, and monitoring tools, while implementing cost optimization strategies (FinOps). Responsibilities include designing High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions, optimizing SAP HANA performance, and ensuring business continuity.
Additionally, the architect drives automation using Terraform and scripting, enhances operational efficiency, and ensures compliance with security standards through IAM, encryption, and audit controls. Acting as the primary SPOC, the role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and vendors.
Candidates should have 10–15 years of IT experience, strong SAP BASIS expertise, GCP proficiency, ITIL knowledge, and excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
