Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Record to Report (R2R) Ops Specialist with strong expertise in account reconciliations, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end closing activities.

The role involves analyzing financial data, reconciling general ledger and sub-ledger balances, investigating discrepancies, preparing journal entries, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a good understanding of accounting principles, and experience handling complex reconciliation activities within Finance Operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Account Reconciliation

  • Perform end-to-end account reconciliations for balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
  • Reconcile general ledger balances with sub-ledger balances and supporting financial records.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve reconciliation differences, unmatched transactions, and outstanding items.
  • Perform bank, intercompany, suspense, accrual, and other account reconciliations, as applicable.
  • Ensure reconciliation statements are accurate, complete, and prepared within established timelines.
  • Track aged open items and coordinate with relevant stakeholders for timely resolution.
  • Maintain proper reconciliation documentation and supporting evidence for audit purposes.

2. General Ledger Accounting

  • Review and maintain general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries for accruals, provisions, reclassifications, and adjustments.
  • Validate accounting entries and ensure transactions are recorded in the appropriate accounting period.
  • Review general ledger balances and investigate unusual fluctuations or discrepancies.
  • Ensure sub-ledger transactions are accurately reflected in the general ledger through appropriate reconciliation processes.

3. Month-End and Year-End Closing

  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
  • Complete assigned reconciliations and journal postings within the financial closing calendar.
  • Review outstanding balances, accruals, provisions, and unreconciled items.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, closing procedures, and reporting deadlines.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and other finance teams to resolve closing-related issues.

4. Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Collect, analyze, and validate financial data and operational reports.
  • Prepare account reconciliation reports, balance sheet schedules, and general ledger reports.
  • Investigate account fluctuations and provide explanations for unusual movements.
  • Support financial reporting, variance analysis, and management reporting activities.
  • Maintain accurate financial data to support business decisions and reporting requirements.

5. Issue Resolution and Process Improvement

  • Analyze moderately complex accounting and reconciliation issues and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Identify root causes of recurring reconciliation differences and recommend corrective actions.
  • Improve reconciliation accuracy, efficiency, and turnaround time.
  • Standardize reconciliation procedures and maintain process documentation.
  • Support automation and process improvement initiatives within R2R operations.

6. Compliance and Audit Support

  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Maintain audit-ready reconciliation files, schedules, and supporting documents.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing financial records and explanations.
  • Follow established control procedures and escalate significant discrepancies or risks.

7. Team Coordination and Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with internal finance teams and client stakeholders to resolve reconciliation issues.
  • Manage assigned workstreams and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Provide guidance to junior team members and review work, where applicable.
  • Monitor process performance against service-level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Communicate reconciliation status, risks, and unresolved issues to the reporting manager.

Required Qualifications

  • B.Com, MBA in Finance, BMS Finance, CA Inter, or an equivalent commerce/finance qualification.
  • 7–11 years of relevant experience in Record to Report, General Ledger, or Account Reconciliation operations.
  • Strong expertise in account reconciliations and general ledger accounting.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
  • Experience in month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Ability to investigate discrepancies, analyze financial data, and resolve complex reconciliation issues.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in financial ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent platforms is preferred.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, coordinate with stakeholders, and work independently on assigned activities.
  • Willingness to work in rotational shifts.
