Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Custom Software Engineer with strong expertise in IBM Db2 and Natural to develop, enhance, and maintain custom software solutions. The role involves designing and coding application components, optimizing database performance, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and working collaboratively with multiple teams to deliver scalable and high-performing solutions aligned with business requirements.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with IBM Db2, Natural, SQL, database design, database optimization, and performance tuning, along with a good understanding of Agile software development practices.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

Design, develop, enhance, and maintain custom software solutions.
Develop and modify application components based on business and technical requirements.
Write efficient, maintainable, and high-quality code.
Develop scalable and high-performing solutions across systems and applications.
Analyze existing applications and identify opportunities for enhancement and optimization.
Participate in application development, testing, deployment, and support activities.

IBM Db2 & Database Management

Work extensively with IBM Db2 for application and database development.
Design, develop, maintain, and optimize database components.
Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database-related solutions.
Perform database performance tuning and optimization.
Analyze database performance issues and implement appropriate solutions.
Ensure database solutions meet performance, reliability, and scalability requirements.

Natural Development

Develop and maintain applications using Natural.
Analyze and enhance existing Natural-based applications.
Troubleshoot application and programming issues.
Support integration between application components and database systems.
Ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to development standards.

Technical Troubleshooting

Investigate and resolve complex technical and application issues.
Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Troubleshoot database, SQL, application, and performance-related issues.
Provide technical solutions to issues affecting the immediate team and multiple teams.
Support production and application maintenance activities when required.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned technical areas.
Collaborate with multiple teams and contribute to important technical decisions.
Provide technical guidance and support to team members.
Facilitate knowledge sharing, mentoring, and best-practice adoption.
Take ownership of team-level technical decisions and deliverables.
Support team members in resolving complex technical challenges.

Process Improvement & Delivery

Identify opportunities to improve development processes and team efficiency.
Implement development best practices and process improvements.
Participate in project planning, estimation, and delivery activities.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide appropriate technical solutions.
Contribute to timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
Follow Agile methodologies and participate in relevant Agile ceremonies and activities.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with IBM Db2.
Strong expertise in IBM Db2.
Proficiency in Natural programming.
Strong understanding of database design and optimization techniques.
Strong experience with SQL.
Experience in SQL and database performance tuning.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
Understanding of software development methodologies, particularly Agile.
Experience working with multiple teams and technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Shift: Shifting / Night Schedule as required
Candidate must be willing to work onsite from the Manila office.
Candidate must be flexible to work in shifting schedules.
Candidate should be willing to travel when required for client or project engagements.
